Phil O'Keefe
George has fun with a volume pedal! John said this was an attempt to do another song like "This Boy" that didn't quite work as well as he wanted. Amazing how we re still fascinated by their work all these years later to the point we'll sit and listen to a basic tracking session recording, complete with scratch vocals... and love every minute of it. I love the sound of the breaking string! It's also pretty cool to hear them slating the various takes, including the false starts, etc.
Members goodhonk
iirc, john had to work the volume pedal for george. just read that "i need you" was recorded during the same session. i just realized that is a volume swell too. Phil O'Keefe
I'm not sure, but I think Yes It Is was tracked first... but yes, I Need You is another great George song that features volume pedal swells. Nice posts 'honk!
