  • Are We Done Yet?

Stopped in to see if the forum is finished, or if they have completed it...

Seems like they forgot to put the page numbers on the bottom of the page so I have to scroll to the top at the end of every page.

I guess hiring El Kabong as the lead programmer was not a good idea.
<div class="signaturecontainer">WARNING: TC Electronics Pedals Are NOT REPAIRABLE. Instead of fixing my switch they wanted to charge me $72 plus shipping on a $99 pedal to replace all electronics, when only the switch was defective. This is their blanket repair policy on ALL repairs. They have no replacement switches. The switch is on the board so substituting a different switch can't work. Do not buy pedals from companies that cannot repair their own switches.</div>

At least this forum opens, can be read, and (apparently) one can even POST to it. Not so with the AMP forum...most of the time it doesn't even open, and when it does, you can't post there. No new posts since April 5th.
    This space left intentionally blank.

We put out brand-new reviews and articles every week - typically about 9 of them.

As far as some of the issues we still face, a lot can be traced back to bugs in vB5. Check their support forum - we're not the only board that's having issues with it.

I can't view the pedalboard thread or anything else with lots of pics posted in it. Just opens to a blank gray screen. Anyone else have this issue? And having to scroll back to the top of each page to navigate this forum is just about annoying as when TGIH used to post here.

Go to your user settings and change the number of posts per page setting. When it's at default that happens but stops when you change the number to anything else.

Why not use the same forum as TheGearPage? It works.

Mainly because vBulletin is what everyone's been asking for us to use ever since we stopped using it a couple of years ago. We're literally one of the top 16 sites world-wide that's running vB, and the largest one of all using vB5. But all is not lost... they're starting to do some mods to it since vB hasn't been forthcoming with fixes for their bugs.

So for the last 4 months they have been sitting around waiting for an email from V Bulitin?

What was the reason it was so slow? How did they fix it?

I hope V Bulitin can't simply look at your page source and get your fix for free.

They've put the updates on every forum's landing page instead of just on the main list of forums. You can read their updates there... http://www.harmonycentral.com/forum/...ar/acapella-29

And no, they weren't just sitting around for four months. There's plenty of other things they had to do too. They've tried getting vB to fix their own mess. That's really their job... but they've had a few months to do it, and now we have to pay to get it done so that you can have a site that works and meets both your expectations, as well as ours.

As far as the reason why it was so slow, as I understand it, vBulletin had done some things to optimize performance for medium sized sites... no one - anywhere in the world - is running vB5 on a larger site than we are... so we got to be the guinea pigs. Turns out that apparently there was some throttling going on and that as well as some of the other aspects that were intended to make things better for medium sized sites apparently slow large sites like ours down. That's the scuttlebutt I heard - take it FWIW.

The forum is far better now but waiting for months before we get the page numbering at the bottom seems unreasonable to me...
