Members Porkchop Xpress
I really wanted a nice sounding unit that I can play with when my kids are sleeping and also for direct recording. The Vox seemed to be the best bet, so I went and purchased a Tonelab SE today. I have only had about 20 minutes with it, so I won't be able to give my opinion just yet. I just wanted to get a thread going where we can post all of the clips that people have made (MrMunky?) and possibly some settings. Also I will post the link to the new Tonelab site that I think Mr Munky pointed out. It looks like it will be a very cool resource once more people get in there. http://p218.ezboard.com/bvoxtonelabtemple

I would like to make this thread a place where we can share how we all get these tones and how we are running our Tonelabs to include what type of guitars, what configurations, what tubes we are using, what we are hearing the Tonelabs through i.e. mixers, moniters, computers, PA's, headphones, amps, atc... MrMunky definately got a grasp of the Tonelab quickly.
Members MrMunky
you guys are very kind. Here's another clip http://www.themunky.com/tunes/AcVibeTL.mp3
Members Porkchop Xpress
That sounds awesome. What guitar are you using and what are you using for monitoring? I would love it if we can find an easy way to share settings. I don't have a lot of time on my hands lately, so I don't get too many chance to just sit and tweak. I am not impressed by the presets on the SE, but I am very impressed by the tones you are getting. Keep em coming MrMunky. If you don't mind, I am going to post all of your clips here so we can get a central place to post all of the Tonelab stuff. Have you used the Editor software yet? I haven't even read the manual. I'm going to try to get some time very soon to just sit and play with this thing. It is huge! I also wasn't expecting the gig bag to come with it, so I was very happy with the purchase. I got the last one a little Okinawan Music Store for about $425. The one thing I am a little confused about is the fact that they really cut back on the output options on the SE. The regular desktop version has the S/PDIF, optical, midi, direct 1/4" outs, etc... the SE only has the 1/4" outs and midi interface. It is enough for me, but I wonder why they cut those out. Anyways, here are MrMunky's clips that I have found: http://www.themunky.com/tunes/ToneWalz.mp3 http://www.themunky.com/tunes/Fuzz50TL.mp3 http://www.themunky.com/tunes/TLHiGain.mp3 http://www.themunky.com/tunes/Tonelab.mp3 http://www.themunky.com/tunes/Tonelab2.mp3 http://www.themunky.com/tunes/Tonelab3.mp3 http://www.themunky.com/tunes/Tonelab4.mp3 http://www.themunky.com/tunes/Tonelab5.mp3 http://www.themunky.com/tunes/Tonelab6.mp3 These are some very nice clips man. Members MrMunky
Thanks. That last clip is a Godin xtSA, and Gibson ES-125. I've used the editor almost exclusively, I haven't even rotated any of the knobs. As for the outputs, I suspect they made a few trade offs in order to accomodate the additional hardware. This is a very hefty pedalboard, especially with the two treadles. At the same time, the price difference between the SE and the desktop is not enormous. I don't like the presets either. I have used a lot of modelers, however, and I don't think I've ever heard a preset on any of them that sounds even decent.
Members e-monkey
What guitar are you using on tonelab2.mp3 and tonelab5.mp3 ? Both of those have Hendrix written all over them and that's where I think the Tonelab will excel pver some of the other modellers. Whateffects are you using in those presets ? If i get one it has to be the Desktop i really like the digital outputs it has.
Members Porkchop Xpress
Is there any way that we can share settings or snapshots of the editor on here or the Tonelab forum? I think that would help a lot of people out especially when they are just getting into this thing.
Members MrMunky
you can export patches from the editor into proprietary files. You can swap them in that format pretty easily, it seems.

To be honest, I hadn't even looked at the first page of it before I started this thread. This is an easy unit to tweak, but to tweak it the right way there is a little more to it. I just realized that I was listening through headphones but I had the output in the global on the Amp setting as it comes from the factory. Man, what a difference. I guess I should read that whole manual, huh?
Members hybrid
Just got a question for all you tonelab owners.... I'm just wondering, have you guys tried using tonelab with a stomp box (before or after or in the effect loop) and does it sound okay? I'm thinking about replacing my dg stomp with it (dg stomp sounds great but switching patches is too much of a pain). Also, I've read something about effects not being able to be used stimutaneously...which effects are limited by this?? Thanks a lot.

Members Fourth Floor
I love the look and the price is quite good too. So it is giving me GAS despite having no need for the Tonelab whatsoever.
Members GCDEF
I got one the other day. It definately has some good sounds. What I'm finding is a real limitation, is the inability to combine multiple or certain effects. For example, unless I just have some more learning to do, it isn't possible to have wah and univibe in the same patch. That's a serious bummer to Trower and Hendrix fans.
