Members ambient
It *looks* cool. Aside from that I have no idea - The old ampegs are supposed to be great though the new ones not so much. Right?

Members lolque?
If it's built/sounds anything like my V4, it'd be solid silver/blue is indeed early 70s too.
Members jacobarber
It looks like a tiny version of my VT-22. As long as it is from the late 60s or early 70s and it works, you can't go wrong. Those Ampegs are all {censored}ing tanks and you will die long before it does. Members jorhay1
Those are Sweet!A really unique sound, great for the studio.Any 7591 tube amp is a great find.Wish I had one.Think of a cross between a 6l6 and EL84http://www.kbapps.com/audio/schematics/tubeamps/ampeg/ac12.html I think 4 bills is a pretty average price for those, not great or terrible. Members Zappa74
Google says: From Gregg Hopkins' book, Ampeg, The Story Behind The Sound: (re: 1970)"Though Ampeg was establishing itself as a maker of amps forrock as well as jazz, it gave the electric accordionist one lastamp with the new all-tube AC-12. This was a 1x12 single-channel 20 watt amp with reverb and tremolo. It was poweredby a pair of 7591As and had a 12AXY, 6U10, and 12DW7 inthe preamp section. The amp flopped and was discontinued bythe end of 1970. Though the accordion amp market had all butdisappeared, Ampeg still offered the stereo string bass pickupand five-mic accordion pickup. Ampeg surely knew that an accordion amp in 1970 would like-ly be a white elephant, so it covered its bets by recycling theAC-12 circuit to derive the GU-12, which was identical exceptthat it did not have a negative-feedback loop-- giving it greaterharmonic distortion. The GU-12 was marketed as a guitaramplifier and essentially took the place of Ampeg's other sin-gle channel 1x12 amp, the Rocket II. "

Right? The new Ampegs are great amps as well; just not similar to the old models. Apples / Oranges. $400 seems a bit steep for that.

Members GreaserMatt
That grillcloth, logo & faceplate is early 70's; probably a great amp... $400 seems a bit high in this economy though; I can't even get $300 for my fender champ, & they were going for $300 all day long a year or two ago... Members lolque?
You got a real good price on that VT-22 then... I got my V4 with a JCM 900 4x12 for a straight trade for a Fender HRD, which I bought for $400. Didn't even have to re-tube it for almost a year. Oh rich hipsters in the greater Boston area, you should do research before you sell something...
