Just got back myself. Was a nice place to visit, can't see myself making a second trip though.

      great idea

that's like las vegas passing a law saying non Nevada residents can't gamble.
I didn't come here to save whales, I came here to get laid and make rock 'n' roll

Heard an interview with a coffee house owner in Maastricht, and they were planning to disregard the law.

Something like this comes up every year.

im guessing when tourism drops 80% theyll reconsider their decision.

...or all youd have to do is walk in wearing wooden shoes and cop a stupid upward inflected accent and noone could possibly question your nationality.

B-but the two go so well together! The Dutch are genius.

The Dutch are also objecting to the "weed pass" they'd have to apply for, in order to go into coffee houses. They're worried the data will leak out and be used against them, in employment, for example.

I've read about 30% of tourists that go to Amsterdam visit the coffeeshops. Say a decline in tourism by 10% is enough to sting.

There's a back door for a reason. You can also still grow your own consumption legally. So I'm not worried.

I think you're missing the point. Every year they say they'll ban weed in the following year and suddenly everyone knows where they're going on vacation this year.

I used to know a girl (a really pretty girl by the way) who was from Amsterdam. She told me that she loved the town but dealing with the tourists was a real drag. The place is a magnet for perverts and jerk offs who need to be baked all time. If other countries had sane drug and prostitution policies then all the creeps could stay home and not congregate in that nice old city.
