  • Can cats get addicted to secondhand cig smoke?

i think our cat is addicted to 2nd hand smoke- or shes just a bitch.

since we got the new house we only smoke outside and shes always really pushy about us going out all the time, meow this yeeeooooowww! that.

at first i figured she was just enjoying her new space, its a really sweet large screened in patio but now im not so sure. pretty often shell just plop down in front of us while were smoking, like shes in flavor country.

can cats become chemically dependent of 2nd hand smoke?

it's very likely, cats tend to have this personality, (catnip and wahtnot) I also had some friends in highschool where whenever they smoked weed their cats would get in there and sit above the couch and bask in the weed smoke. They loved it.

I think cats or any mammal can develop a nicotine addiction but the levels in second hand smoke are not at a magnitude where it would present itself. I'd imagine the attribute having the greatest effect on your cat is that cigarettes smell like wet butt and house pets love that.

for a large mammal sure, but little ones it may be different. in theory, anyway. you give a pet a few ozs of booze (i would never) and theyd be ****************ing ripped to the tits. wouldnt it be possible for a little kitty cat to be exposed to a high enough level or nicotine from 2 people smoking at the same time? someone should do a study. my cat demands it.

Try giving your cat an electronic cigarette.

I think it depends on the concentration administered to the pet but I would imagine your cat just wants to be around you. It may actually associate the smell of cigarettes (i.e. wet butt) to you and the missus though.

My cat stays outside during most of the day time so he always sits next to me when I smoke. Not in a fiendish way, though.

                            You're lucky your cat isn't a pitbull.

do you ever offer your cat a treat only to pull it away at the last second so you can grind your cigarette butt in its little pock-marked face

I'm just trying to get a visual of what's going on here
