  • OT: 1 guitar, $2K. Go!

Looking for a new guitar to replace my Epi LP, Mexi Strat, P90 equipped SG, and Ibanez hollow body. No Line 6. Looking at a Les Paul Trad Pro due to its coil splitting capabilities, but I'm open to ideas. Versatility is a plus. $2000 top budget.
Guitars: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro, Epiphone Les Paul Standard (for sale), Fender Stratocaster, Ibanez AF75 (for sale), Alvarez Artist, Washburn Taurus, Fender Precision, Rogue MandolinAmps: Traynor YCV40WR, SWR LA12, Behringer BX3000T head/Steel Sound 2x12 bass cabPedals: Too many to list...Good deals: knives490, slufay, Jim Hunter, deadanddreaming, lank81, MickTaylorFan, jmecale72, billy budapest, melx, CRANK, Mdsmithii, juankyman

I don't think you're gonna cover all those bases with just ONE guitar. But I'd look at either a LP style guitar with a coil split or a 335 style guitar with coil split. A phase switch would be an added plus.
Good deals with: TravvyBear, TD Moyer, modeerf, starmansam, dyer_maker, Reaganomics!, frenchji

Music Man Reflex HH. Not particularly traditional, but crafted like a fine watch. Solid as a rock with an astounding variety of tones.
I'm in a band called Little Sluggers. Signature.

I'd want to buy a Suhr Modern, but the budget's not high enough. (two thousand pounds on the other hand...)

...So I'd likely opt for a Rasmus/Suhr model, EB Silhouette or possibly Petrucci model, a nice strat or tele, possibly SG...
          Currently using:
Ibanez RG1570 (DiMarzio MegaDrive bridge) - Peavey Royal 8
          Board:
          RMC Wizard Wah (2005)
          EHX Small Stone (Big box)
Boss SD-1 (Modded by PedalMods UK, 3-way gain voicing selection)
          Ernie Ball VP-JR
          Boss DD-3 (1987)
          T-Rex Fuel Tank Jr.
          Good dealings with: yourguitarhero, woolyh

Gretsch Duo Jet. You can get a new one for far less than 2K. Spend the rest of the money on a bridge replacement, and TV Jones. You'd be surprised how versatile it is. Won't sound exactly like any of the guitars you're replacing, but can fill in for any of their contexts just fine. Twangy? Check. Thick rhythm tone? Check. Sparkle and chime? You get the point.

Probably an es-335. I'm really more a fender guy, but nowadays all sorts of good teles/jazzmasters/strats/etc can easily be bought for under $1K. No reason for a medeiocre guitarist like myself to spend more than $800 on a telecaster
