Members woolyh
Interesting looking guitar, like a mashup of a Gibson SG and Les Paul Anyone using one? How do they play/sound? Are the vintage models as good as the current ones? Some eye candy...
Members Trick Fall
Always wanted to ty a vintage one ofthose but they aren't too common over here.
Members woolyh
I'm asking about them because I see so many vintage ones (70s I think) on the classifieds in the UK for cheap. The vintage ones seem to sell cheaper than current production ones, hmmmmm....

Members OnWingsOfLead
IIRC Matt Pike played one before he got his Fist Act 9 String. One of my friends has one of the old ones. Thing is pretty beasty, i'd say its more double cut LP than SG as its thick like an LP
Members iff
I've played an older one as well as a new one. Both were awesome guitars. Great, thick necks.
Members evets618
Les Paul killer (heavy as one, too) but only sunburst for me, just like uncle Carlos. Buy a wide strap, or save for shoulder surgery, ladies.
Members woolyh
Shopped a Les Paul just to compare them. Symmetrical vs. Asymmetrical

Phil O'Keefe
Buy a wide strap, or save for shoulder surgery, ladies. Quite true! Good, well-made guitars, but they're not for everyone. Big sounding, big necks, heavy as boat anchors. At least the vintage ones are... I have not played any of the current ones.
Members BHz_econo
My former singer had an old one that was his dad's. Sounded really good.
Members ArrMatey
If you are referring to the sg1000, it's a great guitar. So are The 2000, They are bloody heavy but sustain like crazy. It's pretty much an LP killer and I'd love to have a Vintage 2k one if funds and space wasn't an issue. They are hard to beat imho. I think they sound thicker than a lot of les pauls and they have coil tap which rules.
Members TravvyBear
cool lookin' guitar. Wow, this was awesome. Those lo-fi vocals are amazing.
Members Neilrocks25
Great guitars. The cheaper ones are ok bu the higher price range models are great. I owned a Yamaha studio lord guitar and they really sound good. Similar to the sg but les paul shape
Members highwayone73
I've got an oooold one. I think its a '74, (cant, for the life of me, remember the model and the only numbers i could find are on the back of the pups). The pickups are absolute thunder, though they need re-potted. The wife and I call it the Old Man. It has the most singular tone of any guitar Ive ever owned, just howls. Its beat to {censored}. I think I paid 170 for it with a similarly beat to {censored} hard case. The Old Man dosen't give a {censored}, it just plays.
Members lefort_1
I had sn old SG2000 for a while....incredible sound, but the neck was a weird compound of thin/thin by the nut and bulky/burly beginning around the ninth fret. A very weird transition. Sold it for 2x my purch so not so bad.
Members k tone
Rik Emmett of Triumph played one in the 80's. My guitar teacher had one as well in that era. They were pretty pricey as I recall.

Members Elessar [Sly]
My dad owns a Yammy SG2000 and it is one of the nicest guitars I have seen, sounds great too. If I was right handed I would have bought it off of him to add to my collection since he rarely plays it! But yeah, they are really nice guitars!
