Finally watched Soylent Green...

Very mixed feelings. The concepts were pretty forward for their time... they were dealing with the consequences of global warming back in 74. :eek: Sustainability. Euthanasia. All sorts of fairly heavy ideas.

 

But goddamn, Heston's acting. Horrible. Everything about the actual production is cheese. And I don't think time is an excuse. 2001 was made 6 years earlier.

 

In fact, it's hard to believe Bladerunner was made a mere 8 years later... man did {censored} change once the 80's rolled around.

Heston was a great actor in the same way Charles Bronson was. It was more about him then the part. Soilent Green is a classic. I always liked Omega Man better.

 

As for dealing with Global Warming in 72 you can quote Charles Manson in 69,70, etc... and you would think it was one of those nutters from today.
