Members Turd Furgison
i think you should get one of those italia rimini's (how do you even pluralize that?) and let me know how it is.and don't get one of the over the top sparkle ones, just a get a regular one. over the top sparkle can distract the ears from hearing the sweet toanz. Members echodeluxe
Eastman 371. Cheaper than anything you can try, better than a Gibson. Lacquer finish, built extremely well, $619. Beat that. or an Eastman 386. Same deal, $699. Better than a 335.

Members bieke
I would go hunting for a vintage Ibanez 2370 or (harder to find) 2457 from the mid 70s these are only in red or walnut
Members vinnies
this thread is relevant to my interests...i'm looking for a semi hollow - just tried a hagstrom viking - OK, but i didn't fall in love immediately so it didn't take. i've had a fender reissue semihollow tele - that was pretty sweet neck-wise, pups were a little dark and dull. might be good for jazz tho. Agreed. You'd be crazy not to track down something like this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Harmony-H-77-Cherry-Burst-Semi-Hollow-Electric-Guitar-/251224649246?pt=Guitar&hash=item3a7e27ee1eEven if you stripped/flipped the pickups (prolly a hundy each on fleabay) and added whatever you wanted. It will play wonderfully for you. I did this w/one of mine and have never looked back. Kept one DeArmond, added a filtertron and a ric songle-coil in the bridge...gorgeous. Members GREC
Man I must be gettin' old. Guy asks for a hollow body guitar up to $1000 & a 'Harmony' is mentioned a few times. Not that theres anything wrong with that....

The Harmony's I've kept will outplay just about anything listed in this thread so far. The one variable is pickups (so maybe change them). The guitars in that H7x series were very nice instruments, and can be tweaked into fine form. Certainly the equal of the Epis and Eastmans mentioned so far. I'd take a good Harmony over a Gibson any day of the week. Also, there were some killer hollowbodies coming out of the Matsumoku plant in Japan in the 1970s. I have a Aria Pro II Herb Ellis Signature that I will never sell.
Phil O'Keefe
I can't believe the Epiphone Casino hasn't been mentioned yet. That's my recommendation - a good used MIK Casino. I can't speak for the MIC versions - I have not played enough of them to make a recommendation on them... but the Korean built ones are fantastic hollowbody guitars. Members percyexpat
Casinos are only semi-hollow, aren't they? i.e. they're solid through the centre and only have hollow 'wings'? Come to think of it, not sure if the OP is after a fully hollow guitar or a semi-hollow. There's a pretty big difference in tone (and feedback resistance, for that matter). Members imbuedblue
Casinos are great guitars. The early MIC Casinos were very hit and miss, but as of mid-2011 they've been pretty spot on. Before that, the MIC Casino bodies and necks were made to different spec than the Inspired by John Lennon and Elitist Casinos. I guess things got a little confusing with all the different neck joints, neck profiles, and ply layers between different models. After they released the 50th Anniversary Casino, they changed tooling and now the only differences between various price points is the electronics, finish, and hardware.
