Came in here to post Swervedriver's Sci-Flyer, but you got it already, so I will simply point out the glaring omission of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze.
This MH -2 does not face the person in search of a beautiful thing such as the new article.
A lamp goes on and off at the time of on and off.
It works perfectly as much as it is surprised to be an old model.
As for the thing 30 years ago, it can't think of it.

Hendrix for sure. I would probably choose "Third Stone from the Sun" over "Purple Haze" for the Sci-Fi theme.

Trying to think of some more current offerings, like Tycho's "Sunrise Projector", or Twin Sister's "Space Babe."

        Black Blade - BOC
I know it's more fantasy than sci-fi but Moorcock straddles both genres.

Also if I'm gonna mention BOC in a sci-fi thread I gotta add Veteran of a Thousand Psychic Wars. I like the live version better than the Heavy Metal soundtrack version. Also add the Heavy Metal soundtrack to this thread.
