Members Felix959
I've been lusting after a V-series Ampeg for months. Finally a deal came up that I couldn't refuse. Picked it up tonight: Mid-'70s VT-40 for $300. I am already in love.
Phil O'Keefe
That's a heck of a lot of amp for only $300 - congrats!

Members TomCTC
WOW, is that the 4x10? Incredible looking man. I'm loving it.
Members Felix959
Thanks, Phil. I can't wait to try it in the full band context. Thanks also for your Catalinbread recommendation a couple months ago. I almost went in that direction. Members Felix959
Thanks guys. Yeah, Tom, it's the 4x10 combo. I see VT-22's or V-4's a lot more on craiglist than these guys. But I could never justify 120 watts. Hell, even 60 watts is kind of ludicrous.
Members Felix959
Hell yes it does. Makes my Super Reverb feel like a bag of pillows.

PS I eventually got smart and switched to much smaller / lighter amps. Well, at least smaller. My Princeton Reverb II has a EVM and some beefy iron in it - it weighs nearly as much as a Mk I Boogie does. But nothing like that Super Six. That thing was a tank. And I didn't have wheels for it either... I carried it 5 miles to and from gigs, uphill both ways, through 2 feet of snow and under a 105 degree sun... Members Felix959
Well I've been gigging with the far more modest DRRI. But Phil, your ill-advised feats of strength give me hope. Bob Seger should write a ballad about that.
