im hoping i can grab one in the future. run it into a lopo 2x10.

If I could make a vibro champ with a BJ reverb I'd be in heaven.

That's the company who makes those odd shaped cabs right?

    I'd build one instead.

          • So I scored a bunch of NOS Jan Phillips USA 12AX7WA the other day and have been trying them out in my Blues Junior. I've tried them in V1 and V2, then in V1 with a Svetlana 12AX7 in V2.

Huge difference compared to Svetlanas, Sovteks, or EHX in both V1 and V2.

But I'm shocked by the change when putting a JAN in V2, it is somehow very subtle, but makes a huge difference. I need to dig out my recording gear and make some demos.

            • What has been a good general consensus on speakers for this guy?

I am looking for more clean headroom, I have plenty of pedals.

Anyone have any directions to point me in for speaker suggestions/comparisons?

              Thanks!

Well I've talked about the Texas Heat, before, and I'll do it again. But I'll also put in a word for the Swamp Thang and Canibis Rex. Of the two I didn't get, the Swamp Thang is still the one I'd like to try.

The Texas Heat breaks up later than the stock speaker, and the bass is more defined. Not a dark speaker at all, but much better bass than the stock. If you don't want to change the general tone and character of the amp, but want to improve headroom and tighten up the frequencies, you can't go wrong with the Texas Heat.

Thanks Deacon I had read you used it and I really am thinking pretty serious about this one. If I remember correctly (been reading a lot lately) BillM also likes this speaker!

                  • I'm back to rockin the Blues Jr with 12AX7s. I run the preamp volume at about 6 or 7 and use pedals to send it into more breakup. I'm still really happy with the Eminence Swamp Thang I dropped in it, has a lot more tight bottom end than the Jensen that was in it before.

Have you ever tried the Texas Heat?

                      Here is what BillM says:

                      Eminence Texas Heat

The Texas Heat is one of the most popular of Eminence

                      • I thought about the Texas Heat, but heard better things about the Swamp Thang. I'm sure they both sound pretty great but BillM's description fits what I was looking for pretty well.

                          • I'd go with a Weber California series for unlimited clean, or a Weber 12F150 for a darker sound.

The Weber California tends to run a little more expensive right?

I have never used a Weber but always hear good things about them.
