Maybe we need a new one?

Possibly, but there was a whole list of great settings that i stupidly didn't save.

Somebody help us!:( :( :(

Yeah, the tube zipper lounge died. I wager it was because of me, so just think what will happen to this thread.

I don't think its the right envelope filter for me :( I want something that can sustain the madness beyond the initial decay rate, having the madness bleep into a distorted signal wasn't really working out for me.

This works both in down / tron or down / trill though I prefer the down / tron. Like a lot of the down envelope settings, a ringing note or chord will prevent subequent notes from getting processed -- notes need space. Though this one doesn't feature self-oscillation, the same thing holds. But instead of playing slowly or letting the notes ring and do their thing, I just lifted off after every note and the result was a kind of chirpy little run that reminded me of a moulin rouge version of chinese music, that I call "chinese music torture (on a german)" -- the 'on a german' part comes from the "owwha" vowel sound at the end of the note: chirpy happy... pain.

Res - 2:30

Freq - 3

Sens - 3

Vol - 1

Drv - 9

Gain - 9

Down / Tron

Oh, sure! It does regular envelope filter really nicely. Compared to my mini Q-tron which would sound good only over a limited range -- like a fifth and sound all muffled beyond, the Tube Zipper sounds clear with sparkly harmonics over a very wide range on a given setting. Very tweakable and fine tunable around that funky chord whacking thing.

Who just sold a bunch of crap on Ebay and now has the money to buy a TZ?

Would that be me?

I'm not sure, let me go check my PayPall account....

Yep. Its me.

Now I just gotta wait for the 189 deal again.

Yeah, I saw that too. Pretty weird. Maybe they have a bunch of backstock they need to get rid of.

BTW - if this last item I have sells, I'll have enough for a TZ plus a complete retube for my amp.

I love Ebay.

Tube Zipper Lounge

Damn, it appears our original lounge was bulldozed.

Anyways, hey Hookstrapped. I lost the paper that came with my TZ. Can you post the suggested settings if you get a chance?

Particularly, I'm looking for the rubber band one.

And lets keep this baby alive this time!

EDIT: PS - anyone other than Hook should feel free to post the settings, if you have them. He's just the only guy I know of who definitely has them.

I'll re-post my personal faves that I've found later on.

Lots of clips h

ere. So you can see what its all about.

And I agree with ian87 about the jam & twirl approach. Its just that it gets so damn many different sounds, and the knobs are so sensitive, that if you dont keep up with your settings, you may never get back to what you liked.

I mean, six knobs and two toggles... thats a whole hell of a lot of permutations.

The other day I was lamenting the fact that my board was too big to reasonably gig with, and I decided that armed with my ED-1 and Tube Zipper, I could easily lay waste to pretty much any stage I stood on.

can you guys tell me how this thing compares to something like the mutron 3's? or, how does it compare to the lovetone meatball or qtron? is it a true envelope filter, meaning does it really do all the filtering or is it just a noise box?

Ignore my request for the factory suggested settings, I found the paper.

I shall now repost my little setting I found, which sounds funny and cool to me.

I think I named it "Untying the knot" or something like that, because it makes me think of a knot coming untied.

env - down.

mode - trill

Resonance - 5:30

Frequency - 12:15

Sensitivity - 11:00

Volume - 11:00

Drive - 11:00

Gain - 9:00

Works best with humbuckers, or high output single coils.

Yeah, I was looking for it the other day HC doesn't keep as old a history of dormant threads as they used to.

Thanks for reviving it. BTW, the sheet has a mistake on the Rubber Band setting -- it has it as Down envelope but it's Up envelope.

For me, the Rubber Band is found within the basic auto-wah setting, and you get more or less rubber band snap by adjusting the Res.

Res 2-4

Freq 9-10

Sens 1

Vol (whatever)

Drv 9

Gain 9

Up / Tron or Trill

I can't really answer all the questions bu the ones I can:

The bypass is fine. Clean, no suckage and it works without having the power to the TZ connected (don't want to wear out those tubes).

Not familar with Mutron or Meatball. Had a mini Q-tron and this thing sounds so much better on your basic envelope setting and has a wider range that it affects (no small width HP, LP, BP), plus it has all the wild down envelope stuff and synthy stuff plus it has tube distortion.

Mr. puretube

I got another question for you. One thing I love about the TZ compared to, say, the mini Q-tron I had, is the superior sound quality AND how you get that sound quality over the whole fretboard. The TZ doesn't have a LP/BP/HP selector -- it doesn't seem to care where you play; you get funky crazy goodness wherever. What's up with that?

Mr. Puretube, if the TZ were a breakfast cereal - which cereal would it be?

I say it would be Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries, but Hookstrapped says it would be Grape Nuts.

more later - giggin` tonite & tomorrow, while I had to fight a virus on my other PC today...

just this: I`m a freelancer, E-H got a licence from me to manufactur any thing I designe(-d).

So in the end-effect, I work for them (but not as employee).

On my list so far: "HOT TUBES", "TUBE ZIPPER", "WIGGLER",

"WORM", "PULSAR" (new one).

lotsa new stuff on my workbench...
