Members mister stomach Posted June 29, 2013 Members Share Posted June 29, 2013 i am one of the people who pretty much disappeared. for some reason i was inclined to give a look see today. if it matters, i'll say why i left. 1) new forum is not easy for me to use. it's clunky. it's not intuitive. i can't figure out how to really use it well. i realize the old forum was kind of falling apart, but this is not an upgrade at all. it may not be frozen, but it's ugly and is nowhere near as usable as the old one was when it worked. 2) i don't care much for post count, but my old account was lost and i found that annoying. when i followed the instructions that indicated that i would get an email to help me restore my old account, the email never came and i found that to be pretty irritating as well. don't offer something that you're not able or willing to follow through with. 3)i was getting tired of the growing atmoshere of hostility and people being jerks for no good reason. it was getting hard to have a good discussion. also, the clique-ishness and endless inside jokes derailing everything was annoying. 4)i became more active at another forum that i really ended up liking and some of my favorite folks from here ended up being there too. 5)the censorship was more than the last straw. i find that deeply deeply offensive and troubling. when that happened i was done. i understand the need for moderation to a degree and i always thought phil did a great job and i think very highly of him. but i am not a child and am not interested in participating in a forum for children or being babysat to that degree. if none of the other problems had occurred and this censorship had been imposed in isolation, i would leave the forum on that basis alone. it's the principle of it. sure, i can talk about pedals without saying ****, but this is a community of sorts and i'm an adult and would like to interact with other adults without tiptoeing around a censor. any twelve year old who wants to can spend all day watching hard core porn on the internet and i'm being told to watch my mouth. no thank you. as it is, i was pretty much done by the time the censorship came anyway, with everything else that happened. but i could have been interested in coming back. but not now, not with this. And thanks for motivating (pissing off) all us musicians , grace slick once said that everyonce in a while the kids just need to get pissed off and up in your face with their music ie punk paraphrasing, The old skool forum was all of us it was not this site , so rff them really amirite?
