Is this some sort of off-brand 914 that I don't know about, or did they send me the wrong diodes? Just curious. I think I only spent like $1 on them, so I'm not overly concerned.

Don't recall seeing those. And I usually run across some real odd looking parts where I shop.

Maybe email and ask what brand they are?

And maybe the manufacturers data sheet (Mammoth will do that, dunno about Tayda).

I emailed them once to change an order and got a quick response.

    So they do answer emails.

    • I just got my first order from tayda and my 1N914's look the same as yours! I'm guessing they're fine, just a different brand perhaps.

      • Ya, they're not Fairchilds like everyone else sells. Can't remember the manufacturer though.

Yeah they're some cheap off-brand. I AB'd some from my old mouser order and some from my recent Tayda order and they sound identical.

                None.

Choosing one over the other is usually an issue of what will fit.

                • Thanks guys for the help. I think my coat is a little thin, but I'm a little wary about putting thick coats after I mucked up twice. Will keep practising and hopefully get better at this.

                        • Heyt guys, Can you help me with my Small Stone that i just got. I think it's revision 3 but I'm not sure. Anyway, I got it for cheap because it had a volume drop. It was modded to have a pot instead of the color switch. When I plugged it up there was a volume drop so I took it apart and found another pot inside (the one dangling off the board) that was wrapped in a plastic bag. I opened it up and turned the pot all the way clock wise and the sound came in. The rate knob works but when you get to the last bit of the turn clockwise the effect disappears. I wanna return it to stock, but I can't read schematics well enough to do it by myself.

                          • are the white wires connected? like glued like ribbon cable? If so, I'd figure the dangling pot has the wires for the color switch? And red, black, and green are in place of some component(s)?

Is the red/black/green supposed to be the color? - Does it work like the color would?

Ive seen some other Small Stones with colored wiring in the same spot. The Color pot doesn't make any change in sound when I turn it. I have an extra switch here to put back in it, but I don't know where all of these wires go.
