Moderators daddymack Posted November 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 19, 2016 Sounds like the main power switch possibly needs replacing...check to see if the mounting nut is loose.

Members WRGKMC
Its fairly common for main switches go bad. They pass all the current to the transformer and the rocker plates inside can fuse together. The older metal Carling type switches often lasted decades without a problem. Many of the newer plastic switches are ok for solid state state amps, but just don't hold up very well in tube amps. A replacement set for the Bassman should be easy to find. http://www.amprepairparts.com/switches.htm You only need the power switch. Replacement is easy, its only two wires that need to be soldered, but it does have to be soldered properly since it does handle the full 120Vac You can also buy a full set here for $
