i came back from vacations and found my amp with the light turned on. i am not sure, maybe i left it with standby on ? i dont know. so i turn power and stand by off, the light is still on and the power tube still lit. no sound - fine. i turn stand by on, power on, the sound is normal.

only when unplugged from the wall the led and tube will turn off.

Its fairly common for main switches go bad. They pass all the current to the transformer and the rocker plates inside can fuse together.

The older metal Carling type switches often lasted decades without a problem. Many of the newer plastic switches are ok for solid state state amps, but just don't hold up very well in tube amps.

A replacement set for the Bassman should be easy to find. http://www.amprepairparts.com/switches.htm

You only need the power switch. Replacement is easy, its only two wires that need to be soldered, but it does have to be soldered properly since it does handle the full 120Vac

You can also buy a full set here for $13
