Anyone do it with the BillM designed one.

I'm not exactly sure if I need the TO20 or TO20B

But I'm hoping the amp goes from clean to a creamy over drive with out fart out.

David Allen has the Hoyboer BillM transformers and I'm not sure of the health status of Bill these days.

The PRRI I have has the 10" speaker and is a 65 PRRI. Like this

I've been busy at work and hopefully will have the time to install it in a week or so. Once I order it.

The T020B boasts

more "hi fi" approach to design for improved bass response and extended frequency response

As in most high fidelity that would suggest and extended clean response and possibly an even more severe issue with pharting out. I don't see a transformer change fixing anything because you have a bass response issue, not a transformer issues.

This mod site tells you what you need to do including a speaker change. http://www.ratvalveamps.com/fender-princeton-reverb

Going to a 12" speaker and replacing the caps with orange drops, sounds like a good idea to me. Twisting the AC wiring and tucking it tight to the frame will minimize hum and noise. Getting JJ's for the power tubes is another.

If you want the amp louder and cleaner I'd use Electro Harmonix preamp tubes.

I recently swapped out the Groove tubes I had in my 67 Blackface Bassman and it made a dramatic improvement over the groove tubes Fender uses. I also installed JJ's but the Jury is out for the moment on those because they are giving me some background hiss. I tried some Ruby tubes before that and they were so bad I had to send them back. I need to check and see if I got another bad batch of tubes or if I have another cap in there I need to replace.

If you don't want to go through the work of recutting the baffle for a 12" speaker, there are still 10" options. Jensen describes most of their 10" speakers as having a "loose" low end, which isn't promising. A notable exception is the Tornado 10. The Eminence Ragin Cajun is another 10" with a fairly decent low end but the high end is very pronounced. Fender amps generally don't use Celestions so I won't make any recommendations in that regard.
