Help! Mark IV Lead channel squealing!

Hi all,

I was doing some recording tonight and notice that my Lead channel started squealing when I didn't actively play something. It also stops squealing when I change it to either Rhythm 1 or 2.

I figured it would be a preamp tube, but I tapped all of them and none of them seemed to come through the amp when tapping.

I wanted to come here and ask for some help of those who'd know, rather than start swapping preamp tubes at random.

Thanks for your help!

I just happen to catch your post here.

Do you have a couple of spare 12ax7's cause I really think you have a pre amp tube that's gone belly up. It's also difficult at times to tell which one it is, so try swapping out one at a time. Not all tubes that are bad will be microphonic either.I have had many Mesa's an it's a common issue. Once you figure it out, you should be all set to go.

Give it a try.

Might even be more than one pre amp tube too.

Just make sure you turn off the amp when changing pre's
