what mods can make a deluxe reverb have a tighter bass, and less shrill highs... i'm thinking i should just get one cheap and mod it, instead of a boutique amp that i can't afford (carr)

have a tech put in a solid state rectifier, and 6l6 tubes....

Then itll sound more like a small twin I'd think.

I like mine the way it is for band practice and small gigs ... when I need more oomph I use my twin.

I like to start with both tone ctrls at 0 and dial in just a little bass and treble as needed. ... you get more mids out of the deluxe that way.

Here's what I did that seems to have done the trick:

Power tubes: 2 Jan Phillips 6V6s
        V1: Mullard 12ax7
        V2: Mullard 12ax7
        V3: RCA 12at7
        V4: RCA 12ax7
        V6: 5751 with matched triodes

        Speaker: Weber Michigan

        This thing sounds "piss-your-pants" sweet.
