Members nakedzen
I found a great deal on a used Classic and I was wondering if it sounds exactly like the CLX or is there a difference?

Members nakedzen
I dont think it sounds like a CLX at all. Isn't classic supposed to be = CLX? At least I've understood that the CLX was called Classic before Peavey sued VHT for using their trademarked name? If I'm wrong, how does it sound then? Members cobrahead1030
doesn't the clx have the graphic eq, where the classic doesn't?
Members nakedzen
doesn't the clx have the graphic eq, where the classic doesn't? So it's basically a CL with a clean channel?
Members DownByLaw
I have played only one classic, and have owned my CLX for about 6 yrs. The classic had an eq, and I would say was looser than my CLX. I understand that these amps were frequently tweaked by VHT early in production, so, try before you buy. There have been many revisions to the amp's circuit since then, so the Classic doesn't sound much like the current CLX. The Classic doesnt have as much gain, bottom, no gain stacking/EQ etc....
