  • What gauge string if tuning down a whole step?

My singer prefers to tune down a whoel step. Begrudgingly, I've accepted this, but I don't want a lot of flub and strings hanging off my neck. What gauge strings do you guys have that tune down and can I get the tension similar to what it is in standard E 440?
    I had a signature once...

10-52 here. and 10-46/48 for standard. Im not a big fan of 11's on the treble strings.

10- 52 will work fine but it takes time to get used to the heavier strings. Start with 10-46 and see how they work. Fender 250's work very well and sound fantastic.

            +1

11's are a little tight, 10-52's are just right but the high strings could be seen as loose by some.

As a user of 10-46s in E (and in Eb, although that is starting to get a little too flubby) I'd have to go with 11s.

I would use a set of 11's. Right now we are on Eb and the 10's are feeling loose.

I use 11-44 for standard and 1/2 step down. So........ I'd go a hair heavier for a full step down, believe it or not.

What scale is the guitar ? On my Gibson scale guitar I found .011s to be a bit slack, especially when playing in drop C so I use .012s now.
