However I'm a half retarded n00b on how tube amps REALLY work. Are there any books I could buy to teach me?I don't need fundamentals of electronics, but basic amplifier concepts going into advanced ones would be good. No longer in print but available on eBay most of the time. Specimen Guitars in Chicago teach a tube amp building class. That might be a good place to start. It's easy to replace parts if you have a schematic...but to design an amp from the bottom up totally from scratch or to know how to design mods confuses me. But they just figured {censored} out by themselves. They pretty much learned by doing. And in this day an age. What you can't figure out, use the internet to try and find out what someone else has. I'm thinking I'm going to do the set-up/electrical weekend seminar. I COULD do the 4 week classes, but if I can shove it all into a weekend I just might.
