  • A concensus yet on the best current production EL34???

I have been trying all sorts of tubes in my Egnater Mod 50, and currently have a set of Svet 6550s, but I am thinking of going back to EL34s since I have always been an EL34 guy.

I might throw my TAD EL34s back int or order something new. I don't think i want to try E34Ls again because they seem boomy in the lows, and almost too aggressive to the point of lacking any smoothness.

What have we all decided on the the best new EL34? Anyone?

The most often mentioned are the SED Winged C's EL34 and Ruby EL34 BSTs, but nobody is mentioning the Tung Sol EL34B or JJ EL34.

The Ruby EL34B STR sounds awesome in my Cobra. Crunches like mad!

I've tried the Tung Sol EL34B and found it to be too smooth for my needs.

Even with other amps? I've got some Mullard RI's that rattle microphonics style in the open air.
