    are these things any good? what kind of toanz can be coaxed out of them?

      Unless the one I played was damaged, these arent even close to the preamp Rockmaster.. The Rock Master head I played was lo-mid gain vintage style type amp..

        The RockMaster head was one of several models that Peavey made (Butcher, VTM) as a copy of the JCM800.
        If it sounds anything like the VTM series, it's probably a pretty badass amp.
        If you can get it for under $200, it's probably worth it.

        It's only got a 4-ohm output, though, so keep that in mind.

            no can do, my cab is only 8 ohm

              You can run the 8 ohm cab off the Rockmaster head. I'm running mine with a Marshall 1936 2-12 cab. Sounds great!!!
