Found out this interesting tidbit on "Strictest Colleges" - here's a gem from this "Christian" college:

 

Pensacola students are not allowed to wear frayed jeans or beltless pants. Pornography, electric guitars and off-campus food are other examples of campus contraband. Gambling and "indirect horseplay" are forbidden; interestingly, so is extra studying for exams.

 

WTF? Do young people in this country really want to subject themselves to such nonsense? I love that extra studying for exams is also forbidden I can't imagine anyone here going to this hellhole.

As someone who escaped borderline oppressive parents about christian schooling/education, yeah- that place is {censored}ed up. I remember my parents talking about it at one point when I was in HS and I threatened to leave home if they brought it up again!

 

Having gone to private school my whole life (because I wasn't paying for it and I wasn't interested in getting stabbed/robbed in JH and HS! ) looking back now if I ever have kids, I'm sending them to wherever they can get the BEST education possible. Religion/church/morals/etc.. aren't supposed to be taught in school. You should be a parent enough to get that done on your own time, if you're inclined to do so anyway. Now I wasn't "hindered" necessarily b/c of that, but {censored} son, if my kid gets into Rice or something, I'm not going to say "No, you can't go there" b/c it's not a "christian" college. For {censored}s sake, my parents wouldn't let me go to Baylor because it was "too liberal". Being older now, there's so much BS that comes from the church and those people in general about education, relationships, etc., that just leaves people open for {censored}ed-uppedness when they get out and hit reality, it's sad.

I was having a convo with a girl-friend of mine from college who was very sexually reserved/repressed, but not fat/flat/ugly but still pulled the "dating jesus" bit and nowadays sees just how {censored}ed up that is, because these are the kids that can't or aren't allowed physical contact or relationships with people, so they get to college, and marry the first person they make out with, and now 5 years and 2 kids later, their lives are {censored}ed up b/c they're miserable and call RSB for some lovin'!! :cop:

Part of the reason I am so {censored}ing anti-church right now. Again, it just doesn't mesh with reality at all. If you can and some people do survive in that bubble, great, but 99% of them can't and don't, and are divorced with kids at 21, 22 years old. Sounds great. Thanks youth group.

I used to go up there when I was in college for $2 tequila shot nights at like Grahms or some other {censored}ty chain bar. There were some, "interesting" locals that frequented that place!

Cool story: one of the Dutch guys that came along got SO frustrated with the trip that he bought a T-shirt that said "Jesus Loves You" on the front.

 

When the dean saw that, he was pretty pleased.

 

Until he saw the back which said

They did stop trying to convince us that coming with them to church on sunday was a fun social event (we had classes monday through saturday).
