Members spawnofthesith
Does anyone have any experience with these? I am saving for another guitar, and these caught my eye. I like the the color options and the maple fretboard. Are they any good? Worth the price? Some of the other guitars I've been considering are the Baja Tele and a couple different Edwards models. Is there a consensus on these things? I haven't heard much about them
Members groovetube
why do you want a LP with a maple fretboard?

Members chris_d
I really want to check out one of the SGs. I think i could find a good use for such a treble machine.
Members Twin Turbo
wish they would have put black parallelos or block inlays on the maple tho, that look is sick
Members spawnofthesith
why do you want a LP with a maple fretboard? Because in general I prefer maple to rosewood :poke:

Members Zakko
PLAYED ONE TODAY! er..two.. First one had frets-a-poppin Sounded like an Uber hot rodded strat. A little too hot rodded to produce anything warm from it. It's a stripped down BFG with Classic 57s and a maple neck.

Members fretout
Seems like it would sound waaaaay too bright. Too much maple.

Members lp_junkie
I wasn't impressed with it, way too bright. But I am more of a Standard/Classic/Custom guy so I was initially skeptical of the maple fretboard and that is the same reason I prefer rosewood boards on Strats as well. It's a nice guitar just not something I would be interested in owning. Like all things Gibson, you have to play several to find one that is great. Members spawnofthesith
Hmm guess I probably won't be getting one of these then, I like bright amp tones, so I am guessing one of these + how I like my amps dialed would be a bad combo. I guess I'll probably look into those Edwards LPs now...
Members Zakko
I guess I'll probably look into those Edwards LPs now...You mentioned a baja Tele... Two different universes, my man. Pretty much I want a reliable singlecut guitar of some sort that will cover a lot of ground, and can perform well in a variety of genres. Nothing much more specific than that really. Members superflyinmonke
Save even more and get a maple boarded Custom. I played one of the SGs and an LP and they were a thin and bright. Not typical for what a LP is supposed to produce for tone. It sounded like a strat, but more smooth and less spank. Members spawnofthesith
I don't want to spend too much though, whatever guitar I end up getting is what I'll be taking to college with me next year (big part of why I'm looking for some versatility). Members King Loudness
My friend has the white SG Raw Power. Great guitar, but he said that he had to change the pickups to tame the brightness. FWIW, I've played it with the stock pickups and didn't find it too bad, though when he changed the bridge pickup out for an Air Zone, it made a world of difference.
