Members satannica Posted May 2, 2011 Members Share Posted May 2, 2011 Missus is running an Intel E2200 CPU on a gigabyte board. It's idling about 35deg, showing about 43 in windows. Does that sound a little high? It's the stock cooler, and as far as I know literally jsut the stock pad that came on the heatsink. I was thinking of whipping it off and putting some decent compound on, but those push pins are a bitch... anyway to get those on/off without taking the whole board out? Members angusjohnftw Posted May 2, 2011 Members Share Posted May 2, 2011 Sounds like it might be overheating when going under load or the heat isnt escaping properly... whats the case like for airflow? 35 degrees for idle doesnt sound too bad for a stock cooler tbh.. Members satannica Posted May 3, 2011 Author Members Share Posted May 3, 2011 I'm doing a job on it tonight... four hard disks in a mid-tower case, so getting rid of all but one. I'm also going to put some Arctic silver on the sink too, see if I can't solve this. I did a load test with Prime 95 and it reach 72 degrees before it started beeping and didn't show signs of stopping. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
