Sorry, that cab it teh secks. Its really the perfect cab for me.

Well, ok, the PERFECT cab would somehow make me sound like I could actually play guitar. Barring that, its pretty much the perfect cab for me. I keep thinking I should get a 4x12, but thankfully all you kind people around here remind me of three things: 1) I have a cab that rocks, 2) I don't play out....which leads to 3) I'm not sure I could get a 4x12 into my basement without dying in the process.

Still, bro  though.

I had a pretty mellow year, gear movement-wise.

I acquired:

Mesa Boogie Mark III combo

Mesa Boogie 1x12" cab, open back, EV-12L

TC Electronic Nova System

I later traded away the Mark III combo shell for a Mesa Boogie rack mount kit and 4 space SKB.

That's it!

what do you think of the miniplex?

Pricey, but it does exactly as advertised. It gets Marshall tones and that Marshall poweramp distortion at lower volumes. The 60's, 70's, 80's switch does make a big difference and does a good job of getting those era's tones (JTM, JMP, JCM800). I've also had a lot of fun trying out different power tube variations since I push the poweramp a lot you can really hear the differences in drive. To sum up its an all around smaller wattage/studio amp for vintage Marshall tones. Build quality is solid too, no wimpy ass tube sockets that bend and no issues with the amp so far.

All that said, tonally its not in some completely superior league to other lower wattage heads even though it sounds very good. I still use my Tweaker very frequently and I would have no problem rocking a Jet City 20h or Blackstar HT-5. Its just that if you want very close vintage Marshall tones and want that signature Marshall poweramp distortion, its one of the best choices out there on the market. I've realized these days that 80% of my tone is just in my playing style and the extra 20% is in the amp.
