Members Menthal
Ohh, not another mod thread by me..... Since I already begun modding I decided to go all the way with a 5150/SLO preamp conversion, as close as I could get with what I had. So it's not 100% 5150/SLO, rather 91.3%, cause the EQ is active in the Rockmaster and whatnot. Here is the clip: http://www.tonefinder.com/index.php?section=id&value=12350 I'll do a boosted clip later with a od808. *PM for schematic.
Members Goop
Nice, would like to hear a longer clip!
Members guitarbilly74
It doesn't sound like a 5150 at all. Let alone a SLO
Members Lucius
That sounds a bit harsh. Nothing at all like a 5150/slo but the delay on it didn't help much either. Cheers, Lucius
Members Megadeth Man
If you can be arsed to do a few clips with different EQ settings then that would be good.
Members Menthal
I'm well aware of that it doesn't sound like a 5150, since I actually used to own one. And SLO uses 10uF filter caps for the preamp giving it a smoother treble response. And both those also uses a passive EQ section witch scopes the mids. Time to booST. Members JerEvil
Longer clip is needed. Sounds boss though. I like it. Bet it would cut like crazy in the mix.
Members Menthal
The power amp is making me kind of mad, I shouldn't record clips using EL34's when trying to get close to a 5150. It was also built to get a saggy feel and not the tightness I'm after for this preamp. Anyway here is another clip, with a maxon od808, sounds kind of mushy. Trying to mic a cab can be painful. http://www.tonefinder.com/files/40-rockmaster-5150sloMoD2.mp3
Members sahlomonic
2nd clip MUCH better. Still can't quite say its in the 5150 or SLO territory, but sure showcases how well the Rockmasters sound
Members JerEvil
Sounds awesome. I don't think I need to say it sounds like neither a SLO or 5150 but I dig it.
