Favorite Shred players?

I've been going through a phase of listening to my favorite shread players. Guys like Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore, Jason Becker, Malmsteen, and a lot of the other Shrapnel guys.

Anyone got any newer or perhaps younger guys I should check out that are doing the shred thing? I prefer straight up instrumental stuff but I guess it couldn't hurt to check out some bands as well. Would love to hear some guys I've never thought of.

I haven't heard too much Greg Howe...any particular albums? I've heard Kotzen and Loomis...can't stand Cooley. Haven't even heard of Oz Noy...I'll check that out too.

kotzen and howe did 2 albums together and they're awesome. Greg Howe has a {censored}load of albums so you might have to dig to find what you like the most. Kotzen's Electric Joy is guitar porn for the ears.

The first instrumentalist I got into was satch. After him it was Eric Johnson. Greg Howe is a fusion player where Eric Johnson and Satch are more rock/soft rock.

The Shrapnel days were awesome. I still have some cassettes (which I transferred to MP3) as well as a lot of MP3s. Some very good stuff. For some newer stuff, which I'm thinking you've almost surely heard of but am posting anyway, some newer bands have some great shredders, though I'm not sure how you'll like all the music. Stuff such as:

Animals as Leaders

Guthrie Govan

Necrophagist

Sleep Terror

and of course Michael Romeo with Symphony X (and the new album's great IMO).

There's also that one Russian kid who's an unreal shredder, but I can't recall his name. I hope he ends up putting out some good original music someday.
