Members Lemuria Posted June 29, 2012 Members Share Posted June 29, 2012 thats why this is a short term, life saving measure at this point. the initial effects of not having oxygen are more crucial than having CO2 poisoning...right? not sure, i guess both are essential. take for ex. asthma attack when people're able to inhale but not exhale. in some cases it may take only a few minutes from the start of the attack to the death, quickly deadly if not treated. also divers may suffer greatly when trying not to exhale for long. it's called 'respiratory acidosis'. on the other hand, i don't know how long a person can survive on oxygen injections while in a stationary position with the muscles not working, and not producing CO2 much. quite possible that it's 15-30 min alright. anyway, they could have said a few words about that in the article. But if you aren't actually inhaling, do you still intake CO2? If they are direct injecting oxygen there would would be no CO2 to exhale, right?
