Members slicepaperdavid
I have a head that has switchable 4/8/16 ohms on the back. A 4x12 cab that has an input and daisy chain output when in mono, left and right when in stereo, and a switch for stereo/mono. And a 2x12 cab that has only one input. How do I set this up to run all 6x12's firing
Members JBTubehead
Need more information. What's the ohms of the 4x12 in mono? What's the ohms of the 2x12? Does the amp have 1 or 2 speaker out jacks?

Members hcprimerib
cable up your cabs and put a multimeter to test ohms on the lead that would plug into your head. you need to be sure what impedance you're plugging into your amp

Members GCDEF
the 2x12 is 8 ohms, the 4x12 is 16ohms mono, 8ohms stereo You already have your answer at TGP

Members JBTubehead
Set head to 4 ohms and run both cabs in mono.+1 With a 16 ohm cab and an 8 ohm cab, the total parallel ohm load that the amp will "see" is 5.33 ohms. Setting the amp to 4 (below the total load) will keep the amp safe. One thing to mention is that the 2x12 cab will be louder in this mismatch scenario. This worked perfectly, absolutely brutal sounding and a completely different feel than using the 2x12 or 4x12 alone.
Members GCDEF
As mentioned at TGP though, the speakers in the 2 x 12 are each getting four times the power the speakers in the 4 x 12 are receiving.
Members slicepaperdavid
^Does that pose a threat to the amp or speakers? I def noticed a huge increase in low end and fullness of sound, enough to justify lugging around both cabs. The 2x12 is a much better cab(pine/handmade) with better speakers(v30's) so it doesnt bother me that it will be getting the majority of power
Members Reauchambeau
running two identical cabs is ok, running mismatched cabs will probably cause phase cancellation and comb filtering side effects. I'd stick with one cab or the other in your situation.

Not really sure why you'd have any phase problems because of different impedances.
Members JBTubehead
Disagree on the phase cancellation and comb filtering; co-planar driver placement. The only thing that will "happen" is the 2x12 putting out more volume. Since it's loaded with 60w V30's, no sweat.
