Members codecontra
I am looking for a used V30. Not sure if there are a lot of counterfeits out there due to the whole "UK versus China" deal. Any way to tell? Does this one look legit?http://www.ebay.com/itm/Celestion-Vi...item2578f5ef2f
Members Cougar Hunter
Everything looks fine, except for the price. If you want a v30, Just buy a WGS Retro 30 or a Hellatone 60 or something.

I wonder what model Celestion it is based on.
Members Zeppelin Rules
Hellatone 60s are V30s. They just put them through some kind of working-in process and then slap a new sticker on the back. I have a set of em that sound pretty good. I can't compare them to a regular V30, never having tried one

Members Kidbs
I would just get a hellatone 60 and then you don't have to worry about breaking it in. I have an avatar 2x12 cab with them and it sounded great out of the box.

Members Zeppelin Rules
The 30 in V30 refers to the size, not the wattage. 30 centimeters=12". (you Americans and your crazy measurement system)

Members codecontra
Good info here, thanks guys. Glad I posted. I have a JCM 900 1936 cab (2X12) with the stock G12T-75's. It sounds good, but not quite as bright as I would prefer. I was thinking that swapping out one of the speakers for a V30 would either brighten it up a bit or change the tonality more to my liking. Sort of just taking a shot in the dark here. My JCM 900 1960 (4X12) sounds perfect to my ears and I love it, but need a 2X12 that can fit in my car. My only concern with the Hellatone 60 is that it is described as warmer and more bass heavy than a V30.

I would assume that most speakers mellow a little with age & use.
