Since I'm stuck in the house due to the weather, I've been messing around with the EVH 50 watt miked through my Diezel 4x12.

Drop D metal played through my old school Bolt On Eclipse. Stock ESP medium output pickups ( I love these pickups). Drop D stuff IMO with medium output pickups have great clarity and snarl.

cab was one of my Diezels miked with 2 SM57's in a pseudo Fredman arrangement.

This is gritty clean and OD tone test. First run through is my LTD TE202 Tele with stock pickups, the second run through is the Eclipse. Both versions have the same amps settings. Green channel gain is cranked for the rhythms with the bass at 1:00, Mids at noon, Treble at 1:30, presence at 2:00. Solo is the blue channel with the same tone and presence settings, but the gain is around 11:00.

My 100 watt EVH I think is a little thicker in the low mids, but the 50 watt seems to fit into a mix a little easier. The only processing on these is in mastering, which has a little rise in the high mids and highs. the solos for the 2nd clip have stereo slapback delay and some verb.

the cab was one of my Diezels miced with a single 57.

Those clips sound GREAT! I cannot wait for mine to get here!

I seriously need to take a recording class or lose my OCD as it takes me HOURS to lay the scratch bass and single guitar track, then program the drums and then lay true foundation tracks that I end up playing 10 seconds to stop to review I didn't go off time by 1/256th note.

Maybe I'm not doubting my choice in the 5150 III over the Tweaker 88 now! thumb.gif
