Members LesPaulFetish
So I picked up an interface last week and have finally deciphered Reaper and made it work. After downloading Amplitube and playing around with a few trial amps, nothing really blew my pants off but they sounded ok for what they are. I literally googled "free ___ VST" and ended up running TSE808 -> LePou456 -> GreenGate -> LeCab V1 into Reaper. Double tracked and panned a bit, it's not too bad. Not perfect, and I probably haven't played with it enough, but both amp sims are Engl models and the one in Amplitube costs like 30 bucks and is mega scooped. The setup in clip one would cost like 60 bucks, with a noise gate and tube screamer. The track I tested this out on was Up In Smoke by the Holly Springs Disaster (sick track if you like hardcore); the first one is Amplitube (the one without 2 in the title ), the second is the free VST's (I made a much better better effort at playing in the second clip as well, the first one has a loooot of mistakes/sucks pretty hard. Second one isn't perfect, but better). Anyways, you guys have free VSTs you use and care to share? Any recording techniques to get a better sound? All I did was dial the amp a bit, put the tube screamer to full volume/no gain, play with the gate and go with no post EQ. https://soundcloud.com/lettuceshredder Also, I just read up on impulses and didn't play with one in the chain with the free stuff, so I'll have to look into that. Members Blakkwater
I love the LePou plugins. To my ears, they're a lot more natural sounding (when used with good cab impulses) than the stuff on Amplitube or GuitarRig.

Definitely sticking with his stuff, very cool someone did all that for free as well.
Members Shask
I usually go to his stuff first as well. I have a different Tubescreamer at the moment, but there are a few good ones.I dont know any other good ones off the top of my head, but I know they exist. Keep looking and you will run across them. Members nakedzen
Here's a good thread I started at gearslutz:http://www.gearslutz.com/board/low-e...e-plugins.htmlBut off the top of my head I'd say Nick Crow and TSE make good ones. Members wok
I recently discovered the LePou amp sims and I am digging them a lot, especially the LeGion, since it doesn't need boosting. If anything, I'd say it's a bit too modern sounding so I have been trying to dirty it up. I am using God's Cab Impulses and they sound good to me
Members Engl Kramer
The Simulanalog guitar suite is the best stuff I've found, free or otherwise. The Marshall JCM900 is very convincing. Also for Metal Dirthead is excellent.
