Is it feasible to build a sound-proofed cabinet for amps in house that...

will permit the cranking of amps without neighbours hearing anything, or even upstairs hearing anything?

Know of any good youtube tuts or schematics? Been looking at a few videos just now, not come across something exactly as I've described just yet.

Btw, this wouldn't be a soundproofed room, but a dismantleable cabinet withing the room. So independent flooring, walls and ceiling. Amp heads would be outside the cabinet, with just speakers and mic rigging within.
Probably an 8' x 7' enclosure, maybe 6.5' high?

I'm trying to figure out if this is a feasible home project with a reasonable budget. And of course all materials needed and construction methods for this type of enclosure.

Iso cabs are an option, but if you want a box to stick a 4x12 in, your best bet would probably be something along the lines of a room within a room in miniature.

You'd want to build a double wall and line it with insulation batts. Then place either carpeting or soundproofing foam on the inside of the box. Placing the whole thing on top of neoprene cubes would effectively isolate vibrations from the floor as well.

You'd end up with something that is both very large and very cumbersome, but it could probably be done.

If you are reffering to a room within a room technique yes it can be done. All you get is the miced sound though (good I guess to improve your micing!!!) so maybe an iso cab ready from a manufacturer?

Yeah, anything under a couple grand is well acceptable to me. After all, it makes the difference between being able to play/produce my music with the sounds I love and not being able to play/produce with the sounds I love. The iso cab things are not really what I want. I'd like to have a few mics in there, micing different speakers of a 4x12. I have a large den room in which I think it would work nicely to use up the space that won't be used for anything that's brings me more enjoyment.

Here are the commercially available ones I know about...

Randall Isolation Cab: http://www.randallamplifiers.com/Cab...Isolation.html
Demeter Silent Speaker: http://demeteramps.us/index.php?rout...&product_id=69
AxeTrak: http://www.jlhproducts.com/axetrak/products.asp
Jet City: http://www.jetcityamplification.com/...e-summer-2010/

Or if you want to put your amp inside a soundproof box you can do something like this...

What I did was converted a closet. The inside of the closet I put egg crate style squares top to bottom and ceiling. (pointed the cab at the back wall)

I then put a sound proof blanket over the cab and mic, and then hung a sound proof blanket over the closet doors.

Took about 6 hours and cost about a $120 plus ship from ebay.

Then I lucked out and traded a guitar for a vocal booth. That was a {censored}load of work to put together and it was premade! haha.

This looks cool though...But depends on the type of music. I don't think I would go less than a 2x12 for metal.

Looks pretty amature with that "lid":

They look really good, but I'm betting the prices are a bit unreasonable considering that they don't even list them on the website. I've requested a quote regardless, for their largest dimensioned speaker cab box. Does anyone have a sound guess as to what building one like theirs costs, just going with their dimensions?: Interior Dimensions: 44?H x 42?W x 42?D

Problem with the isolation boxes like those is the tiny space which encloses the cab. This tiny space reduces the acoustic mass and compliance seen by the front of the speaker, thereby changing the overall response of the speaker system (less bass). Couple that with a lack of any reverberations or reflections and you get a "flat" and "neutered" guitar tone. YMMV.
