  • Speaker suggestions for Jet City combo

Guys that own a Jet City 20w combo,

What speakers are you using? What suggestions would you throw out to replace the stock Eminence? I'm not a big fan of it.

Mike Soldano loves the JCA amps with Vintage 30s these days.

Get rid of your guitar, too, and this could be you!

This. I have one of those combos and I detest the sound of it.

OK, it is also possible that you just haven't bothered the changed the stock tubes. Of course, even with the crappy stock tubes, the amp sounds great so

WGS Vet 30s or if you are more vintage minded go green back.

Of this I have no doubt. Also though I have a set of JJs in it I may be one of the few people on the planet that find Sovtek EL-84s to be about as good as it gets for reliability and durability.

But no. This amp sounds like a wet turd. Non existant bass response dull highs with no brass and nasaly mids that are very unpleasent. The gain just goes from very dull cleans straight to mud as you turn it up. I do have a V-30 laying about I suppose I could try.

Ive seen and heard a couple of demos on these boards that sounded quite good but my in room experience is completely different.
