I'm still surprised they rolled back after that hose up on the forums. I'm guessing they still make something off ad revenue or they wouldn't have given a **************** that people were leaving in droves.

Sadly, the decision makers can likely point at that mess now any time a possible fix is mentioned and say, "but we already wasted $X on it and look what that got us!" And the spiral of fail continues.

The whole story seems depressingly familiar for anybody involved in IT where the people with the knowledge are prevented from steering policy and/or spending.

Pretty much this. The overall look and feel of the forum is fine. The functionality is complete ****************. When they rolled out the new and improved 2.0, they only managed to change up the look. Worse yet they somehow brought about even worse functionality. It's bush league.

PMing me about who is in my avatar is creepy, so don't. Don't ask tommythelurker either because he'll PM the mods.

If the site isn't making enough money for MF to fix it properly, then why doesn't someone just buy it off them cheap, fix it up and get rich of the revenue?

Aee these real solutions based on the actual knowledge of the application/data layers/servers? The only solutions offered here are based off of speculation on what someone perceives to be the problem. "Cloning the forum" isn't a real solution and no real solutions could be legitimately offered without knowing all the aspects of the problem including, traffic, servers, costs, data and application layers as well as the other associated costs such as maintenance and revenue.

The reality is that none of us could actually provide a real solution without knowing the scope of the issues.

I know some people here like to think that they know everything, but their solution is nothing more than blowing smoke out of their ass.

There is no point in offering a solution to a problem that I'm not privy to know the details of.

Hey Chuck, eat a dick. Unless you're Bain management, I think you should stick your "nobody's qualified to offer a theory" **************** right back up the ass it came out of.

People who have dealt with the reality of IT management being utterly clueless in the face of facts for over 15 years are probably at least a *LITTLE* qualified to offer an opinion on the situation evolving here. So, again, eat a dick. If this place stops accepting opinions, it just as well cease to exist. Granted, it's trying really hard, but it hasn't happened yet.
