Members KingRicky Posted January 22, 2013 Members Share Posted January 22, 2013 I just bought my first tube amp. A VHT 12/20, it came with 3-12ax7 pre and 2-6v6 power tubes. I looked in the back and all they say are made in China. They sound pretty good but I think I want to upgrade. Any recommendations at to what brand I should go with? I've heard good things about JJ, Sovtek and Tung-Sol. Never having to deal with tubes before, I could use a little help. I play mostly Blues and Classic Rock with a little country thrown in. Members evets618 Posted January 22, 2013 Members Share Posted January 22, 2013 The JJ 6V6S are very rugged and have great clean headroom, but break up nicely when cranked.They come stock in the Deluxe Reverb Reissue, which is pretty much designed to be a small amp you can crank.
