cabinet insualting--what material?

Either thin fiberglass insulation from a hardware store or foam padding from a fabric or upholstry store. Half inch or so thick. Staple it to the inside of the cab. Make sure the edges and corners are tacked down so they don't flap.

Good point about the fiberglass. Truth is, you can pad a cab with almost anything that won't fall apart too easily. Different materials will dampen the cab in varying amounts.
