Members arcadesonfire Posted February 22, 2013 Members Share Posted February 22, 2013 Hi folks,I've heard that when you put new tubes in an amp, it takes time for them to break in. How long do you suppose this should be?I've been using two tube amps for years and years, but tube changes are rare, so i'm not sure. I've got a recording session tonight and a new pair of SED "winged C" el34s for my Traynor Bassmaster just arrived in the mail. (I hadn't realized before why I was missing my amps old sound: the Svetlana tubes i had in it ARE NOT the same as the more expensive SEDs I had in there long ago.) As soon as you turn 'em on, they start wearing out.As far as new tubes for a session, hey, it couldn't hoyt,I would at least take the new tubes to the session. You should have spares on hand.
