It just tightens up the low end and pushes the tubes more, I like it for the tone. I practice boosted but turn my volume on my guitar all the way down so its only lightly crunchy. That way I learn to play clean. Chudanez was a robot anyway. His technique was so self-admittedly bad that it gave him a shoulder that needed operation cos he ruined the muscles.
