    Can't get much cleaner, transparent and shimmery than a properly modded twin.....

      I have a Cyber-Twin through a 2/12 and a Line 6 DT25. Both have great clean sounds and great breakup too.

        Yep, hard to beat a Twin Reverb.  Alternatives would be a Roland JC-120 (probably the cleanest amp I've ever used), or for something cheap, take a look at some of the older Peavey combos with 2x12" or 1x15", which many steel players still use.
