Members jfaaz
I recieved a pair of the Mullard preamp tubes and installed them in my Vox AC15CC. The power amp tubes I am currently using are Sovtecs (until the Mullard EL84s arrive). I did not expect much other than mediocre performance; however, when I turned the amp on I was very surprised! Ealier breakup than JJs and a much more jangly British Invasion sound. The bass is very balanced and the articulation between strings when overdriven made me giggle with delight as I played "If You Can't Rock Me" (Stones) and You Shook Me All Night Long" (AC/DC).These tubes gave my AC15CC new life and it was very easy to adjust the tone and gain to find a sweet spot at a lower volume than I was accustomed to. I will stick with New Sensors Mullard Reissues from now on.
Members charveldan
For CP pre's i like the Tung-sol & Mullard RI.For my 70's JMP Marshalls i like NOS Blackburn Mullards [real deal] and Amperex with SED Winged =C= power tubes. The only JJ tubes i liked were in a SF Fender Twin, they were good for clean. Not a fan of JJ's in a Marshall.
