The two least known but ought to be requisite shredders for today's kids are Blues Saraceno and Michael Lee Firkins.

Add on the standard EVH, Yngwie, Paul Gilbert, and Marty Friedman and you have it covered up into the Satch/Vai era. But, you owe it to yourself to absorb Saraceno and Firkins. Blues did Never Look Back when he was 17. Ridiculous I tell you. Absolutely ridiculous.

Kiko Loureiro plays in Angra, a popular power metal band from Brazil. Kinda meh band IMO, but he's a hell of a player. And I would LOVE to get his custom sig.

I've heard of Toshi Iseda, but he seems to be more interested in name-dropping and taking pictures with all of these famous guitarists who are his "great friends" than playing guitar. From a few youtube clips I've seen he's a decent shredder but I've yet to hear anything that impresses me - but point me to something good if you know.

Hello to everybody! I'm a great fan of Ivan Mihaljevic!

Since the first time I've heard his CD 'Sandcastle' I can't stop to listen to!

It's amazing! Try to listen to some samples at CD Baby's site

Dear The Rossness, here you can find the CD. I think it's awesome!

Btw, I came here because I was looking for some infos about him

I felt the need to know something more about this great guitarist, who - not only is at the farefront of the new generation of the virtuosos - but, most of all, he is an excellent songwriter! (and a very good singer!)

Via 'Google' I've been on this Forum too!

Happy to meet you all!

And glad to introduce to you this Artist who is well known in Europe (he will start his European tour, with the band Hard Time, just tomorrow!):

(and lots more.. but there's a lot of stuff not English written..)

Btw you (Dave Owens) asked for...

Hope my answer is helpful ;)

.. there are probably close to a million guitarists in the world who have enough skills to impress most of us. The bottom line is this: If they have not composed and or recorded a significant original composition (or insanely good cover) whether as a solo act or with a band then they are just another person who plays an instrument. Nothing more, nothing less.

Remember - just about every Classical or Flamenco guitarist n the world has mad skills - and every high school orchestra has a first chair violinist too.

But George Harrison managed to write a couple of great tunes.

Surprised to see Jennifer Batten on there - thought she was pretty well known.

Martin Goulding and Charlie Griffiths from Linear Sphere both deserve alot of attention too.

Blues is ridiculously underrated. That vibrato...
