    I used to play thru one of those years ago. I always thought it sounded angry. The cleans were nice. I generally like anything made by Peavey though.

      It's OK. The problem that I had with that era of Peavey SS amps was the saturation control. If you got the guitar to sing on the higher frets, it would be too much for the lower strings. Get it right for solid crunch, and it wimped higher up.

        I just picked one up on CL. the reverb and cleans alone sold me. this thing is crazy loud. anyone know the diff between the Scorpion and Scorpion Plus speakers?

        Bought one new in 1985. Used it for years. The clean channel was great and took pedals pretty well. The distortion channel .... Well

              Funny you say that, i have a jc-50 to a/b it with. Right off the bat the peavey reverb wins. That said, the peavey has no chorus or vibrato.
