Hey all! This is my first time using the forum. I bought a 2002 Marshall DSL401 after liking the way it sounded at Guitar Center. Yes, I knew about the pre-2003 ones. I have always run a fan behind it from the moment I bought it, but both channels started getting fizzy a couple of days after I bought it. If I return it, I will have a $500 budget. These are the amps that I'm considering. And no, I haven't been able to try any of them out.
Peavey Valveking 2x12 (http://www.guitarcenter.com/In-Store-Used-USED-PEAVEY-VALVE-KING-VK212-COMBO--447-093013-109550055-i3431033.gc). $250 looks like a good price. Gets a mix of good and bad reviews for the kind of music I play.
Bogner Alchemist (http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/msg/4056445833.html) $400 looks like a steal for what it went for new. But I want to know if it'll fit my musical tastes.
Traynor YCV40 (http://dallas.craigslist.org/sdf/msg/4086988762.html) This one gets a TON of very good reviews and was suggested in almost every forum about the Marshall DSL401 that I've read.
I am also open to other suggestions. I play mostly classic rock (AC/DC, Ozzy, Twisted Sister) and modern rock (Rise Against, Green Day, maybe Seether), and I want to be able to footswitch between clean and distortion. I also want to be able to gig with it. The ability to play in the bedroom isn't a necessity, but would help. haven't tried any of these amps, and can't try the Bogner and the Traynor. I play with a stock Gibson Flying V Standard and no pedals (at the moment). Thanks for y'all's help!
