  • running traynor yba-1a with two cabs.

i'm thinking about purchasing a traynor bassmaster mark II today,
and am running into some ambiguity as far as figuring out if i can run it the same way i'm running my laney vh100r currently.
    i have two cabs,
    a 4x12 and a 2x12.
    both are 8 ohms.
on the laney i run them out two 4 ohm jacks (obviously).
the traynor has a "speaker" jack and an "ext." jack,
and is an 8 ohm head.
initially i thought no way it's going to work.
but some folks online say they have no problems with it.
i'm going to be running it hot,
    hm-2 and ocd infront.
    gig volumes.
    thanks!

The Mk II is an extremely loud, tight and bright amp, much louder and more ear-piercingly brighter than the original Bassmaster. Traynor claimed the Mk II was a 85-watt amp, but 60-65 watts RMS is probably more realistic on e you crunch the numbers.

It will safely run a 4-ohm load, but the side effect is roughly half as much dissipation, so roughly 30-40 watts RMS. in short the 3db volume boost you gain from the extra cab is negated by a 3db loss do to the load mismatch.

        cool,
        thanks for the info.
i'm the only guitarist in the band so at some live shows we would like to fun a cab on each side of the stage.
