Members pmag55
Hey guys I have a rack preamp with a EH 12ax7 in the gain positionand a MESA 12at7 in the clean position. Upon power-up, the MESA tube flashesa bright white light then calms down to a red glow. Also it looks worn and has scratches in the glass.Hope someone can help me with this. Anyone? Thanks. Members rockon1000
I'm betting it is a European tube and its normal. Many European tubes flash on start up since the design doesn't have a controlled warm up like American tubes did. Mullards ,RFT, or Ei's even ,etc are famous for the flash on start up. Generally they will only flash once if you turn the amp off and on again while still warm. Bob
